Someone want to try this? Smile

I stumbled across this automatic bagpipe player on the German bagpiping forum. The design is by Robert Fludd (1574–1637).

UAAAH...That is one of the most beautifully bizarre things I've ever beheld. Did Mr. Fludd wake up in the middle of the night in a sweat after dreaming about this? Is the cow making steam??? Thank you, Olle!

Interesting device, though it doesn't surprise me that it hasn't replaced the ordinary pipes in all that centuries... But why the bag? Doesn't that drum-like thing obviously already act as an air reservoaire? Smile

To me it looks like a simple barrel organ with a great saving in extra pipes...

HA! I'll have to remember this one.
I wonder if the theory was ever put to practice, and what could it have sounded like?

Like a bagpipe with only four notes available...

Still, that's four times more than the number of available notes on a Sruti Upanga, or any other of the ancient chanter-less bagpipes.
